Suction driven automatic pool vacuums are propelled across the pool floor using your pool’s pump system. Some have wheels, while others use a system of valves to “crawl” along.
Suction driven units are less expensive than their electrical counterparts. You can usually find them for $50 – $150, and sometimes less on internet sites like eBay. They also make use of your pool’s filtration system which will usually catch finer particles.
However, suction driven units are less convenient because they require that you connect a long hose to your pool’s pump suction fitting. Long hoses like this can be difficult to store, they can get tangled while the unit is operation, and you must also find & install fittings to adapt the cleaner’s hoses to Intex pump fittings.
Additionally, since these units use your pool’s filtration system, you may have to clean, backflush or replace
your filter several times – especially if you have a great deal of dirt & debris to be cleaned.
